Special Olympics Polar Plunge Volunteer Opportunity

On March 3, 2012 the Special Olympics of North Dakota will be hosting the annual Grand Forks Polar Plunge! Last year there were over 75 people brave enough to take the plunge! The opportunity to plunge is open to anybody in the community. In order to take the plunge you will need to raise money for the $75 plunge fee. This money goes to support the events offered by Special Olympics. For those who want to help out, but don't quite want to plunge, there are two options.

The first option is the "Too chicken to plunge" option. This is a way for you to help support the program without having to be anywhere near that ice cold water! Here you can sponsor the program with a $30 donation. To commemorate your kind donation you will receive a T-shirt forever labeling you as "Too chicken to plunge!"

The other option is to get involved and donate your time. There are many different volunteer opportunities available.  You can sign up to volunteer by clicking the button below.

Congratulations to C/SMSgt Joshua Simpkins for earning Cadet of the Month for the month of February.

This month was a close tie between Cadets Blevins, Penman, and Simpkins. What is the best method for breaking a tie? A drill down of course! C/SMSgt Simpkins won 2/3 drill downs and claimed the title of Cadet of the Month!

On October 15, 2011 the Grand Forks Composite Squadron organized and conducted a search and rescue training exercise. During this training members were divided into air crews, ground teams, and mission base. All of the teams worked in harmony when simulating a missing person search, downed aircraft, and flood hazard detection scenarios.

Major Tim Boese had a crucial role in this training exercise. He designed the scenarios and acted as Incident Commander. He assigned duties and dispatched teams in order to successfully complete each task. A special thanks to Maj Boese.
